Clusters crowd the arbor

Green clusters have filled out into a remarkably heavy midsummer crop, hanging in layers through the arbor rails and leaf canopy.

Season notes
Berry size is now much more substantial than in the June records, and the fruit looks clean. The load is exceptionally dense, so keeping leaves and stray shoots from sealing the clusters in will help air move through the arbor.

The training structure is still visible through the canopy, which is good: there is fruit all along the rail, but enough openness remains to keep checking clusters and guide new shoots.

This wide shot shows how much enclosure the vine is giving the path-side garden now. It is dense enough to screen the lattice, so continued tying and a little thinning will help keep air moving around clusters.

Growth is strong on the right lattice and across the top of the arbor. This is the point to keep guiding any long shoots back onto the frame so the gate stays usable and the clusters get air.
